With your help we aim to cover the cost of a weekly fitness instructor for our Social cafe for families living with dementia. The fitness program aims to increase participants balance, co-ordination and memory in a safe, fun and supportive environment.
Project Cost: $5,000 – Community Target: $2,500
Make a donation to DCaf Connections between 17 May and 20 June 2021 and the Turramurra and Lindfield Community Bank will match every dollar donated until they reach their fundraising goal.
Donations can also be made over the counter at either the Turramurra or Lndfield Community Bank.
About DCaf Connections
Our cafés purpose is to connect people to people and people to their communities.
Since 2018, our social café has provided a place for a small group of families living with early stages of dementia and/or displaying symptoms of cognitive impairment to meet outside of their home to socialise, relax and discover ways to live well with dementia.
In 2020, we expanded our activities to include a monthly carers’ discussion café where carers can build solid friendships and social support networks while sharing ideas, lively conversations and a cuppa, while the rest of our group participates in other activities.
We offer more than just a tea and chat; we also include a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities, such as fitness, croquet and table-based puzzles and games. Community volunteer speakers and therapists also provide other activities, such as art, music and laughter therapy.
Our Double the Impact Project:
We seek funds to cover the cost of the weekly fitness instructor as we only use fully qualified, experienced and insured instructors. Our fitness programme aims at increasing everyone’s balance, coordination and memory through regular chair-based and standing exercises within a safe, fun and supportive environment. We are delighted at the great success we have witnessed to date.
Who will benefit from this fundraising initiative?
Current and prospective participants and the wider community benefit from the availability of social groups such as DCaf Connections who provide a supportive environment for people living with early stages of dementia and their family carers.

Terms and Conditions:
Donate to the DCaf Connections Fundraising Initiative and the Turramurra and Lindfield Community Bank will match dollar for dollar all funds raised in the period between 17 May and 20 June 2021 up to $2,500.
Any donations over this amount will not be matched – but will be received by DCaf Connections at the close of the campaign.
DCaf Connections does not have DGR status, however, will provide donors with a receipt at the close of the campaign (as per our conditions of participation).
